About iPhone Life

Who We Are

iPhone Life, published by Mango Life Media, is the world's most comprehensive online educational resource for mastering your Apple products. As an independent publisher, we’ve been covering mobile technology since the 1990s and iPhones since 2007. We are longtime Apple fans who are dedicated to helping you get the most enjoyment and use out of your iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, AirPods, HomePods, and Macs.

Our Mission

It is our mission to help you keep up with technology and take control of your digital life. Our experts draw on their years of experience using, troubleshooting, and teaching about Apple devices to create clear, easy-to-follow tips, guides, videos, and live online courses, and to provide helpful gear and app reviews that you can rely on.

Our Methods

When you need to know how to do something on your iPhone or iPad or you can’t get your AirPods or Apple Watch to work the way they’re supposed to, you need a solution that works the first time, so you can get back to enjoying your life.

We've spent years developing the best methods to teach you how to use Apple devices. We’re committed (maybe overly committed?) to doing whatever it takes to make sure our how-to tips, guides, and videos are the most accurate and easy to follow you can find—even if that means using AirTags to stalk our loved ones (with permission of course!) or testing the different ways to set up an iPhone by wiping and restoring our own iPhone six times in a row. Everything we produce is then reviewed and tested by multiple editors.

Our experts also obsessively test every feature of every product in our gear and app roundups. Our editorial team independently chooses every product we review; so when we recommend something, you can trust that it’s because we truly believe it’s great.

Our Story: For Users, by Users

Our commitment to helping our fellow tech enthusiasts get the most out of their devices started in the ‘80s when Hal Goldstein, a free spirit and a software engineer at Hewlett-Packard, decided to quit his well-paying job to move to a meditation community in Iowa.

Though he left his corporate job behind, Hal took his passion for technology to Iowa with him. Mobile technology was an exciting burgeoning field, but the gadgets were also finicky and hard to use. So, in 1985, Hal founded Thaddeus Computing and built a community of tech enthusiasts who could share their knowledge with one another. “For users, by users” became his motto. Thaddeus first published The Portable Paper, a newsletter created for HP laptop enthusiasts and later launched the HP Palmtop Paper (1991–1999) and Smartphone & Pocket PC (1997–2008).

When Apple released the iPhone in 2007, it was no surprise when Hal produced the first print issue of iPhone Life Magazine, which became an overnight success. In 2011, Mango Life Media took over as publisher; and today, iPhone Life's offerings include iPhone Life Magazine (digital only since 2023), iPhoneLife.com, the iPhone Life Podcast, and iPhone Life Insider, our premium educational service. Hal has since retired, but Mango Life Media carries on in the spirit of its founder to this day—teaching online courses, publishing how-to tips, guides, and videos, and gear and app reviews created by users, for users.
