How to Remove Location Data from Photos on iPhone & iPad (iOS 17)

Sharing pictures from your iPhone can be fun, but that doesn't mean you also want to share the data attached to the photo. Not everyone needs to know where a picture was taken, especially not when it comes to posting your pictures online. Luckily, you can control how and when that data is shared directly from the Photos app. Let's dive in with how to turn off locations on photos you want to share.

How to Turn Off Location on iPhone Photos before Sharing

If you enable Location Services for your Camera app, your photos will have a location tied to them. This can be a useful feature so you know where all your photos were taken, but when sharing your photos over AirDrop or iCloud, you might not want your location to be visible. Now, here's how to turn off locations on photos when sharing them from your iPhone or iPad:

  1. In the Photos app, locate an image you want to share and tap the Share icon.

  2. Now, tap Options.

  3. Make sure the All Photos Data toggle is turned off.

  4. Tap Done.

This works for both photos and videos. You can also manually remove location data from individual photos. Now, you can share photos and videos without sharing the photo's location. Happy sharing!
