How to Change Work & Home Addresses in Maps on an iPhone

Set your home address in the Google or Apple Maps app so it's easy to get directions from your current location to home. Set a work address and add favorites in Apple or Google Maps, and getting directions takes just a few taps. You can also edit and update the location of your home, work, or other favorites on your iPhone.

How to Change Your Work & Home Address in Apple Maps on an iPhone

Apple Maps knows your home and work locations based on the addresses in your own contact card, which means you need to visit Contacts in order to change home and work in Apple Maps. 

1. Open the Phone app.
   
   
    
2. Tap Contacts at the bottom of the screen.
   
   
    
3. Tap your name in the contact card at the top. 
   
   
    
4. Tap Edit in the upper right corner.
   
   
    
5. Scroll down until you see your address. If you already have an address entered, tap each section to edit the information.
   
   
    
6. To create a new home address, tap add address.
   
   
    
7. You can also tap the minus symbol next to your home address, then tap Delete to remove the entire address and start over.
   
   
    
8. Once you’ve entered the address, tap Done.
   
   

Remember that you set a work address the same way you set a home address in Apple Maps. To label a work address:​

1. Tap the word home, work, or other next to the minus symbol.
   
   
    
2. This will bring up your labels and give you the option to select home, work, other, or Add Custom Label. Tap work.
   
   
    
3. Tap Done.
   
   

Now, when you open Apple Maps, the address you set as home will be marked with a blue home icon. The address you set as work will be marked with a small brown briefcase icon.

How to Add Favorites in Apple Maps on iPhone

To add a location to your Favorites in Apple Maps:

1. Open the Apple Maps app.
   
   
    
2. Type in the address you want to add to your Favorites.
   
   
    
3. Swipe up on the information card.
   
   
    
4. Tap Add to Favorites.
   
   

To Remove Locations from Your Favorites in Apple Maps

1. Open Apple Maps and tap More next to Favorites.
   
   
    
2. Tap the info icon next to the address you want to remove.
   
   
    
3. Tap Remove Favorite.
   
   

How to Set Your Work & Home Address in Google Maps on Your iPhone

Google Maps makes it easy to set or update your home and work address. 

1. Open the Google Maps app.
   
   
    
2. Tap the Saved tab.
   
   
    
3. Tap the more icon next to Labeled.
   
   
4. Tap Add Label.
   
   
5. For this example, I'm entering a work address. Enter the address at the top, or tap Google's suggestion above the keyboard. 
   
   
    
6. If you enter the address in the Search field, the app may offer suggestions below; tap the correct suggestion or tap Done after manually entering the address.
   
   
    
7. Tap Work. 
   
   
    
8. Now, your work address will be included in the Labeled tab, and will be labeled with a briefcase on the map.
   
   

How to Save Locations in Google Maps on Your iPhone

Saving locations in Google Maps is the equivalent of Favorites in Apple Maps. To save a place in Google Maps:

1. Open the Google Maps app.
   
   
    
2. Search for the address you want to save.
   
   
    
3. Tap the location’s information card.
   
   
    
4. Tap Save.
   
   
    
5. Tap the empty circle by Favorites. 
   
   
    
6. Tap Done.
   
   

To Remove a Saved Location from Google Maps

1. Open the Google Maps app.
   
   
    
2. Tap the Saved tab.
   
   
    
3. Tap the more icon by Favorites.
   
   
    
4. Tap Edit list. 
   
   
    
5. Tap the X icon next to the location you want to remove.
   
   
    
6. Tap Save.
